Introducing Graham Fairbairn B. Mus.  L.G.S.M.  A.L.C.M.

Music was in my family. My mother (stil playing at 90!) started me on piano when I was 5 years old. I continued my musical studies at Glasgow University where I focused on classical music; in particular harmony, counterpoint, theory and 19th century music history.
After passing the B. Mus with Honours  I continued my piano studies at Napier University in Edinburgh where I studied under Margaret Murray McLeod (a stunning teacher) and  passed the LGSM and ALCM piano diplomas. Since then I have branched out from a purely classical focus to develop interests in many styles ranging from jazz, blues and church music.
I began my teaching career in 1988 in Scotland where I built up a practice of 46 pupils.

For years I only worked with the traditional one-to-one face-to-face lesson format. Skype online teaching is probably never going to equal that (being honest) but it is a good alternative. For more about my teaching priorities, go to my teaching priorities.
Currently I am the Director of Music for Parbold Christ Church, (Lancashire, England) where I normally lead worship from keyboard and oversee a team of around 14 volunteers, including singers, keyboard players, guitarists and drummers.  It is not surprising therefore that Christian praise and worship music is something that I can offer help with.

In January 2015 I was appointed as the first music director for  "sing4fun", a community choir based in Parbold, Lancashire. After building it up to an average attendance of 30, I handed over to Nathan Blackburn in Autumn 2016.
